Our Lenses

What are polarized lenses and why are they important?

The rays of light scatter it diffusely in the environment, vibrating in all directions. Polarization is the channeling of light rays, in order to block their incidence in a certain direction, which avoids the sensation of glare.

Polarized lenses work as a filter that blocks excess light, eliminating reflections of light on horizontal surfaces and also improving color and contrast perception.

When wearing sunglasses, our pupils are dilated to better adapt to a situation of low light, exposing our vision to UV rays even more. Polarized lenses are extra protection, essential to protect your vision from glare and intense light.

The creation of polarized lenses emerged as a response to the phenomenon of polarization of light. This phenomenon happens when natural light is reflected on flat surfaces, such as snow or water, often leading to glare.

Woodcraft Woodcraft polarized lenses also protect vision 100% against UVA and UVB rays. For this reason, they bring essential comfort to your day-to-day, driving and outdoor sports.

What does UV protection mean?

UV 400 means ultraviolet radiation with wavelengths of light less than 400nm. Lenses with UV400 protection block these rays, which are harmful to our eyes. UVA and UVB rays are included in this spectrum.

UVA rays have a wavelength of 320 to 400 nm and are the most common on the Earth's surface, as they are not absorbed by the ozone layer. They correspond to most of the ultraviolet spectrum and are present throughout the year, including cloudy and low-light days.

UVB rays, with a wavelength in the range of 280 to 320 nm, are partially absorbed by the ozone layer. They have a higher incidence during the summer, especially during 10 am and 4 pm.

Overexposure to UVA and UVB rays can irreversibly damage your eyesight.

Always protect yourself against ultraviolet rays, even during winter.

With Pica·Pau sunglasses, you can guarantee a vision that is completely protected and free from damage caused by the incidence of sunlight.
